I’m just about recovered after an amazing weekend at the Northern Ireland Sugar Expo in Belfast this weekend just gone. We made the journey trough wind, rain , sleet and snow with our competition pieces in the car. When I say “our” pieces both myself and Sophie entered the competition. I was in the “Creative Freedom” section which was a lot of fun and Sophie was in the kids under 10’s!
I am absolutely over the moon that my Spring Woodland Elf creature won Gold. This is my second competition and I think I am now hooked. I loved making this piece, I completely pushed myself out of my comfort zone and learned a lot about modelling and sculpting along the way. As we are ‘nearly” coming out the other side of winter I wanted to represent “Spring” in a woodland setting in a female form. My elf like creature is representing a type of metamorphosis. She is pulling her roots up out of the ground and trying to move into Spring. READ MORE
